"My little daughter Lily will soon be 5 and started at the Dutch school at the North Hollywood location a few weeks ago. She is in the 4-5 year old group with a super nice teacher and really enjoys going to class! Although her knowledge of Dutch is still limited (I am the only one who speaks Dutch at home), I can already see progress! I guess the unbridled enthusiasm of the teachers has something to do with that too!!! "My son Max started at the Dutch School in North Hollywood last year. He enrolled in the Kindergarten class and after his first class he immediately loved his teacher. She made Dutch classes a joy to attend and learning Dutch a fun adventure. Now Max is 6 years old and he has moved up to group 3. As parents we are very impressed with the quality of the classes. Within a week Max was not only playing with words, but his resistance to reading was overcome. For us it is important that Max’ Dutch stays on grade level, because we will live in the Netherlands next year and he will have to attend school there. "I was born and raised in the Netherlands, but my sons were born and raised in the US and they never really learned to speak Dutch. Thankfully the Dutch School provided me with the opportunity to help them stay in touch with Dutch relatives. My 5 year old learns through engaging presentations with lots of colorful pictures, videos and his teacher is really fun! My 9 year old is learning to make sentences and learns new vocabulary every week. The youngest is in 7th and the oldest is in the 1st year of secondary school at Dutch "HAVO" level. We were planning to have the boys do Dutch only until group 8, but when the possibility was offered to continue, we decided to join. The teaching methods Taalactief from Malmberg and Nieuw Nederlands from Noordhoff are very well constructed and the fact that Nieuw Nederlands is completely digital makes this method very accessible. They are always happy and cheerful when they come out of class. The teachers are very professional, very involved with our children and make every lesson a party. The Dutch School supported her all the way through her studies, was flexible in scheduling, tracked her progress and got her to pass her tests (ALTA and ACTFL) for her State Seal of Biliteracy on her High School graduation. Moreover with the 3 year long Dutch online classes (we started in freshman year in California) she fulfilled the language requirements with the Dutch language, got credits for it in High School and now gets credit for it at the University of Oregon.
